Lessons

Elizabeth teaches Celtic harp lessons out of her home inner Northeast Portland.  She takes a holistic approach to teaching, focusing on technique, ear-training, music theory and arrangement, understanding different musical idioms, and musical expression.  Students are encouraged to choose their own repertoire and learn at their own pace.

Lessons are $45 an hour, $35 for 45 minutes, or $25 for half hour (most students choose the 45 minute option).  No prior musical experience is necessary and all ages are welcome.  A limited number of rental harps are available at $50 per month for a 26-string model, or $65 per month for a 34-string model.

To begin lessons, students will need:

A copy of "Teach Yourself to Play the Folk Harp," by Sylvia Woods (for beginning students only)

A harp to practice on

A chromatic tuner and metronome, or tuner / metronome combination

A notebook

A bare miminum of 20 minutes a day of practice time (or the weekly equilavelent thereof)
