Elizabeth teaches Celtic harp lessons out of her home inner Northeast Portland. She takes a holistic approach to teaching, focusing on technique, ear-training, music theory and arrangement, understanding different musical idioms, and musical expression. Students are encouraged to choose their own repertoire and learn at their own pace. Lessons are $45 an hour, $35 for 45 minutes, or $25 for half hour (most students choose the 45 minute option). No prior musical experience is necessary and all ages are welcome. A limited number of rental harps are available at $50 per month for a 26-string model, or $65 per month for a 34-string model. To begin lessons, students will need: A copy of "Teach Yourself to Play the Folk Harp," by Sylvia Woods (for beginning students only) A harp to practice on A chromatic tuner and metronome, or tuner / metronome combination A notebook A bare miminum of 20 minutes a day of practice time (or the weekly equilavelent thereof) Please contact Elizabeth for more information. |
