Bands

Elizabeth Nicholson & Stringed Migration is a critically acclaimed quartet that performs jazz-infused Celtic and international roots music. The line-up features Elizabeth on harp, guitar and vocals, Eddie Parente (The Trail Band, Touchstone) on fiddle and viola, Rob Barrick (New Shilling, Raven) on acoustic bass & Scottish pipes, and Bob Soper (Grafton Street, Cul an Ti) on percussion, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, sarod, banjo, guitar & vocals.  Stringed Migration's repertoire features lush, layered arrangements, lots of improvisation, and melodies that range from Irish to Indian, to original, to all over the map in origin.  However, the band features four seasoned Irish traditional players and can easily morph into a straight-ahead Irish pub or ceili band if need be.  The band has one recording to its credit, "Fly Not Yet."

Elizabeth Nicholson and Bob Soper features Elizabeth and her multi-instrumentalist co-frontman from Stringed Migration in a duo format.  Like the quartet, the duo performs an eclectic mixture of folk music from different world traditions.  Elizabeth and Bob also play a number of original songs and tunes that flow seemlessly into their traditional folk repertoire. Having honed their performances throughout eight years of duo work, they offer a dynamic show on a astounding range of instruments: harp, guitar, fiddle, bouzouki, sarod, mandolin, banjo, percussion, and male and female vocals.

The Rose and Thistle Band is a trio (also featuring members of Stringed Migration) that specializes in performing Irish and Scottish traditional music and selected classical pieces. As a Celtic/classical crossover band whose dramatic instrumentation (harp, bagpipes, and and violin) is ideally suited for ceremonial occasions (such as weddings, and funerals), the ensemble is a big favorite at events throughtout the Northwest.  The Rose and Thistle Band features Elizabeth on harp, vocals and guitar, Rob Barrick on Highland pipes, Scottish smallpipes, and bass, and Eddie Parente on fiddle and viola. Currently, the group has five recordings to its credit – “Celtic Wedding Music“ (featuring Elizabeth and Rob in a duo format), “Celtic Wedding Music Volume Two,” "Celtic Music Volume 3: Love Songs," "Celtic Music of Remembrance; Bagpipes and Celtic harp music for Memorial Services" (also featuring Elizabeth and Rob as a duo), "Celtic Christmas," and “The Young May Moon.”

Strawberry Rune is a trio that features Elizabeth and American roots artist Lauren Sheehan (vocals, guitar, mandolin, banjo) and fiddler/vocalist Betsy Branch.  Weaving an alluring sound with lush vocal harmonies, they perform music from the Celtic, Anglo, and American folk traditions with a set-list that follows agrarian cycle, changing from winter, to spring, to summer, to fall.  Songs run from old to contemporary, from John Prine to O 'Carolan, from ballads to bawdy. Their annuall winter show, "Soulstice Celebrations," is based around old English carols, Celtic songs, African-American gospel, and other folk songs, and includes a folk tale when desired. The music is both familiar and obscure, secular and religious,  warming audiences with timeless themes of hope, strength, love and light.

Celtic Kaleide is a consort of authentic Irish traditional players that perform for all types of occasion.  At it's core, that band is an all female quartet, featuring Elizabeth, Brongaene Griffin on fiddle, Nancy Consecu on vocals and Geraldine Murray on Irish whistles and dance calling.  Additional instruments can be added (or subtracted) upon request to personalize the line-up for a specific event.  For additional information about Celtic Kaleide, please contact Brongaene Griffin at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
